Chris Douglas-Roberts says he’s bringing short-shorts back to the NBA
Chris Douglas-Roberts signed with the Los Angeles Clippers on Sept. 3, meaning the journeyman NBA player will be on his fifth NBA team — with some D-League stints and a trip to Italy to play for Virtus Bologna thrown in there — since being drafted by the then-New Jersey Nets back in 2008 NBA Draft.
Suffice to say, Douglas-Roberts is a journeyman of sorts, a loner, Dottie, maybe even a rebel. Hard to say.
But who knew he was a fashion rebel?
That appears to be the case with his announcement on Twitter that he intends to bring back the short-shorts from the halcyon NBA days of old.
Told Clippers I’m wearing # 14 this yr & I need medium shorts. They said medium shorts? I said yea like Stockton. Gonna be a fun yr #LobCity

For illustrative purposes, when he references “like Stockton,” this is what he means.
Egad. But hey, LeBron James once jokingly rocked the short-shorts look, why not take it all the way to the NBA?
When pressed as to why he would be making such a bold and ballsy fashion statement, Douglas-Roberts said it is simply a comfort issue.
Never felt the big shorts. Short shorts wavy man. Fools in big shorts hoopin look like Bone Collector out there @t_finleey — Memphis CDR (@RockstarCDR) September 9, 2014
So, to answer the age-old question posed in The Royal Teens’ 1958 classic, “Short Shorts”: Who wears short shorts?
Chris Douglas-Roberts. Chris Douglas-Roberts does, apparently. Or will be soon enough.
At the time it may have not been relevant, but the new Clippers player perhaps gave fans a sneak-peek at the kind of shorts he might be rocking come the 2014-15 NBA season in an Instagram post.
Uh-oh. Nothing good can come of this, folks.
