Michelle Wie graces cover of October issue of ‘Golf Digest’ (photo)
Even though her career-making win at the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at Pinehurst No. 2 was months ago, Michelle Wie remains a hot commodity in the world of golf. So much so, in fact, that the 24-year-old phenom-turned-force assumes the starring role on the cover of the upcoming October issue of Golf Digest.
Wie’s appearance on the cover coincides with a fascinating and in-depth cover story in the October issue.
Wie took to Instagram to share some additional photos from the shoot.
Wie posed with her Open trophy for the shoot as well.
Wie previously teased her imminent appearance in the venerable golf magazine in August by posting some photos of herself looking smashing while again holding the Open trophy, although Wie was wearing a sleek and sexy dress in those pics.
Obviously, Wie is a very attractive young woman, but given her pedigree, the chances are slim to none that her appearance on the cover of Golf Digest will cause the uproar that ensued when Paulina Gretzky graced the cover earlier this year.
The magazine came under fire for its decision to feature Gretzky semi-provocatively dressed on the cover and was accused of using a “Sex Sells” mentality to generate publicity and move issues, something that inevitably occurred.
Golf Digest Editor-in-Chief Jerry Tarde even mentioned the controversy that ensued following Gretzky’s appearance on the mag’s cover with the following amusing quote (via Eye on Golf):
“Believe it or not, our interest in women’s golf extends well beyond celebrities in sports bras.”
