Clayton Kershaw responds to Little League phenom’s pitch-off challenge
If you haven’t yet heard the name Mo’ne Davis, she’s a 13-year-old pitcher for the Taney Dragons baseball team who just qualified for the Little League World Series.
Davis has become a Little League sensation and her complete-game shutout performance for the Philadelphia-based ball club in the Mid-Atlantic Final made her a star.
During a recent interview with ESPN W, Davis called out Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, a pitching sensation in his own right, to a pitch-off.
The video is available here, but here’s what Kershaw had to say in response (via CBS Philly):
“Hey Mo’ne, just wanted to say congratulations on making it Williamsport. That’s awesome, such a cool thing for you to get to do. Such a fun opportunity and I heard you’re ready for a pitch off. I don’t know exactly what that means, but I’m prepared. I’m ready for whenever you can make it out to LA, just let me know.”
It’s great that the Dodgers ace took a moment to respond and congratulate the young lady. But Kershaw better be careful: That girl has some serious stuff. Here are some highlights and a profile of the dynamo pitcher.
