DERP! Josh Reddick loses grip on ball, makes pitiful throw (video)
Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick has enjoyed a fair share of notoriety this season from choosing George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” as his walk-up music. He may have come up with an even more embarrassing way to attract attention to himself.
All kidding aside, “Careless Whisper” is indeed a sweet jam, so perhaps embarrassment shouldn’t be a part of the equation concerning that story, but what is embarrassing concerning the outfielder is how Reddick completely flubbed a throw during Monday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
After Omar Infante lined a sharp base hit to right field in the 1st inning, Reddick attempted to relay the ball back into the infield while baserunner Jarrod Dyson scampered into second base. The problem began when Reddick lost his grip on the ball as he drew his arm back, and when it was all said and done, the ball traveled pitifully ten, twenty feet best.
This misplay allowed Dyson to easily take third base and later score. “Careless Whisper”? More like “Careless Gripster,” am I right?
Yeah, that makes no sense.
