Lookin’ good (kind of): Bo Pelini models Cornhuskers’ ‘Red Rising’ uniform (video)
If a college football team is going to break with tradition and unveil an exciting alternate uniform, everyone, from athletic department administrators to the coaching staff to trainers to players, should all get behind it and celebrate it.
Which is why it was refreshing to see Bo Pelini, the Nebraska Cornhuskers fiery and sometimes cantankerous head coach, let loose a little bit and become part of the unveiling of the team’s new alternate red uniform by donning it himself.
The Huskers will be wearing the alternate unis, dubbed “Red Rising,” for the team’s Sept. 27 game against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Players got a first look at the new duds when Pelini came strutting out while stuffed into not only the jersey, but the entire uniform, from pants to pads with helmet in hand.

And some video of his grand entrance.
Fantastic. Bravo, Coach Pelini. The players and staff undoubtedly enjoyed how their leader got into the spirit of things. And while it may require the jaws of life to extricate Pelini out of that getup, it was well worth it.
Pelini has been doing his best to better ingratiate himself to Husker Nation after some PR missteps over the years. This is another example of him doing just that.
