Jordy Mercer’s home run ball makes woman’s beer cup explode (video)

A woman was either in the right place at the right time or the wrong place at the wrong time — depending on one’s perspective — during Wednesday’s tilt between the Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants at AT&T Park. The predicament — or benefit — prompted by the location of her seat was precipitated by Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer knocking out a two-run homer into the left field seats.

More specifically, the woman suffered a soaking dose of collateral damage when Mercer’s home run ball bore down upon the cup of beer she was holding in her hands like a heat-seeking missile.

Upon the ball’s contact with the cup, the beer exploded out of its receptacle, soaking the woman and those seated around her.

In other words, the woman went to a baseball game and a Gallagher performance broke out.

Ha. A Sledge-o-Matic reference. How delightfully 80s!

The beer-soaked woman discussed her experience afterward.

Even Mercer himself heard about the woman’s plight and took to Twitter in a kindhearted attempt to make amends.

That’s awfully nice. Especially given the outrageous prices charged at ballparks for a cup of beer.
