Eric Young Jr. knocks over kid trying to make catch in stands, makes up for it (video)
As it happened, it may have been a slightly scary experience for two young fans during the New York Mets-Seattle Mariners game at Safeco Field on Tuesday night when Eric Young Jr. plowed over them in an attempt to make a catch of a foul ball that reached the seats. But in the end, odds are the two brothers considered it a worthwhile and rewarding experience.
Free swag will do that.
During the bottom of the 5th inning, the Mets left fielder made an athletic leaping attempt at corralling a foul ball, but in the process completely laid out one of the two young whippersnappers. An adult male also took the brunt of Young’s effort, but we’re not worried about him, right?
And in GIF form:
The boy’s brother, presumably traumatized as well due to the close proximity of the incident, also turned out to be the beneficiary of the collision, as Young gave both kids some baseballs and wristbands to make up for what had transpired.
And here are the boys discussing their brush with a big league ball player and the free stuff they received as a result.
Adorable. And not a bad gig, either. No harm, no foul, right? Okay, there was a foul. That’s what precipitated the entire incident in the first place, but you know what I’m meant.
