Mets fan loses friggin’ mind after Juan Lagares pops out with runners on (video)
With the New York Mets down 3-1 to the Atlanta Braves in the eight inning, a comeback rally was on the minds of fans sitting on the edge of their seats in Citi Field as Juan Lagares stepped to the plate with two men on base.
Unfortunately for Mets fans, Lagares failed to deliver in the clutch, sending a harmless popup into foul territory that Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman casually caught in front of fans seated along the first baseline for the second out of the inning.
One Mets backer, who in appearance embodied what comes to mind when envisioning the stereotypical New York sports fan, proceeded to lose his freaking mind as Freeman made the catch, gesticulating wildly, waving his arms around and hollering at Freeman. At least he had the good sense to grab the sunglasses that were atop his head before going into a full-body dry heave, as his hyper-kinetic reaction likely would have launched the shades to some irretrievable location.
The Mets did go on to lose the game by the same margin that was on the scoreboard before Lagares’ at-bat, as the Braves held on to win 3-1. Something tells me Crazy Spasmodic Mets Fan wasn’t too happy about it, either.
