RG3, Peyton Manning, other NFL stars to have their own Gatorade bottles (pics)
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and Denver Broncos signal-caller Peyton Manning are among the NFL stars set to have their likenesses featured on bottles of Gatorade. While the sports drink company has not done any kind of “Big Reveal” or made any confirming announcements regarding the rollout, RG3 and Manning join Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt as the football superstars who apparently will be included in something called the “League of Captains,” a promotional bit by Gatorade where the NFLers take on the identities of quasi-comic book superheroes. Despite the tight-lipped nature of Gatorade regarding the bottles, several photos have surfaced which reveal what the bottles representing each of the above four superstars purportedly look like.

Watt tweeted out this pick himself last month of a pop machine starring his superhero alter-ego:

The “League of Captains” appears to be a continuation of a partnership between D.C. Comics and Gatorade that started last year and first highlighted by the digital comics series “Freaks” which starred both Newton and Watt. Pretty cool stuff.
