Belgium fan Axelle Despiegelaer lands modeling deal after photos go viral (photos)
During Belgium’s run to the quarterfinals in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, one fan of Les Diables Rouges attracted a bevy of attention on the Internet. And now, even though her beloved squad came up short, losing 1-0 to Argentina, due to the massive World Cup exposure, the 17-year-old has landed a modeling contract with a French cosmetics giant.
First discovered during the Group Stage and usually spotted wearing Belgium colors and devil horns hat, Axelle Despiegelaer has become a certifiable celebrity.
Once photos of her started going viral on the Internet, Despiegelaer launched a Facebook page in late June that now has amassed over 17,000 likes.
Despiegelaer shared the news with her online followers on Tuesday that she won a contract with L’Oreal. She has even been featured in a L’Oreal video.
Some photos she posted to her Facebook page demonstrate that young lady certainly has a future in modeling. As the New York Daily News wrote, “Sometimes it does pay to just stand there and look pretty.”
Best of luck to her.
