‘Frozen’ star Idina Menzel to sing national anthem at 2014 MLB All-Star Game
Just when it seemed that the figurative stranglehold the Disney smash hit “Frozen” had on Major League Baseball through the beginning stages of this season (see here and here for a primer), it has been announced that Broadway star Idina Menzel will sing the national anthem before the 2014 MLB All-Star Game on July 15 at Target Field.
Menzel, who provided the voice of the character Elsa in the movie phenomenon, became a worldwide sensation due to her riveting performance of the song, “Let it Go,” in the film.
Menzel will also perform during a pregame ceremony, which will include a rendition of native Minnesotan Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young.”
If John Travolta isn’t in Minneapolis to introduce Menzel, it will be a wasted opportunity, to say the least. I suppose if it doesn’t work out, fans will be able to console themselves by pouring themselves their own brewskis at the self-serve beer stations located inside Target Field.
