Baseball au jus? Carlos Pena’s home run lands in pan of brisket (video)
Carlos Pena hit his first home run of the season — and first in over a year — on Wednesday during only his second game as a member of the Texas Rangers organization. But what made the homer that landed in the right field bleachers of Globe Life Park is exactly where it landed.
After bouncing off a wall, the ball plopped down into a big tub of beef brisket. So meaty.
Pena’s homer, despite the strange nature of where it ended up, wasn’t enough for Texas, as the hometown team 8-6 to the Detroit Tigers.
FOX Sports Southwest reporter Jim Knox caught up with the guy who ultimately procured the meat juice-stained souvenir and was told the guy gave it to a woman he had just met. Talk about a juicy pickup line.
“Hey baby, how would you like to handle my brisket ball? No, that came out wrong. That’s not what I meant! Come back! Don’t tell security!”
All kidding aside, what an odd place for a ball to land. Had this been the ball that a young Houston Astros fan made the curious decision to lick … well, that would have made a little more sense.
