D-backs fan drilled in chest by foul popup, goes down in heap of hilarity (video)
A fan was in perfect position to secure a ballpark souvenir by nabbing a Lonnie Chisenhall foul popup during Tuesday’s Arizona Diamondbacks-Cleveland Indians game at Chase Field. But, as it often goes in life, things did not go off without a hitch.
In the end, the D-backs fan did in fact get the souvenir, but it was a struggle. The guy misjudged the flight of the ball and his miscalculation of its parabolic trajectory as it came down resulted in the ball going through his outstretched hands to drill him squarely in the chest, the force of which caused the poor fellow to comically drop to the ground.
But like the best of us, this man is a survivor, so once he regained his composure, he rose to his feet and raised his arms in triumph … and then crumbled into his seat in a crumbled heap, exhausted from the ordeal.
What a scene, right? An inspiring testament to the indomitable resilience of the human spirit. Either that or simply an example of an uncoordinated dude getting drilled in the chest with a foul popup he should have caught. One of the two, for sure.
