Glaze up, son: Steve Smith uses donuts as ‘peace offering’ to Lardarius Webb (pic)
Steve Smith’s legendary fiery demeanor was on full display during Baltimore Ravens’ minicamp activities on Wednesday, demonstrating that the team’s new wide receiver has no off button, even during drills.
Smith and cornerback Lardarius Webb reportedly mixed it up a bit during practice when the ultra-competitive receiver took exception to Webb playing a bit too aggressively while contesting a pass during a non-contact drill.
Shoves were made, words likely were said and the two players ultimately had to be separated by teammates. Things reportedly mellowed between the two following the minor melee and no further dustups or altercations ensued.
Despite the apparent lack of continued bad blood between the two, Smith nevertheless showed up for minicamp on Thursday bearing a “peace offering” for Webb: A tasty pastry of some kind from Dunkin’ Donuts.
The treat presumably was one of the glazed variety, as Smith added the hashtag, “#glazeUpson” in a tweet documenting his thoughtful attempt at putting the kibosh on any possible lingering hard feelings on the part of his new teammate.

Of course, the “#glazeUpson” is a reference to Steve Smith’s smack-talking comment directed at Aqib Talib after the corner suffered injury while covering the receiver during a game last season. Well crafted, Mr. Smith.
No word as of yet as to how Webb responded to Smith’s peace offering, but one of Webb’s cohorts on the defensive side of the ball appreciates the passion Smith is bringing to the team’s offense.
“It’s good to have that fire back on that side of the ball,” Terrell Suggs said, “somebody who will go out there and jab back.”
