Matthew McConaughey takes in Redskins practice with Daniel Snyder (photo)

Well, alright, alright, alright. Matthew McConaughey stepped foot onto the Washington Redskins practice facility to take in the sights and sounds of what encompasses a session of NFL Organized Team Activities. The Academy Award-winning actor and “True Detective” star was escorted about by team owner Daniel Snyder.

McConaughey, a big-time sports fan, apparently is a big backer of the Redskins, despite the fact he is a Texas native, something that cannot sit too well with the Dallas Cowboys-loving brethren — or Houston Texans fans, for that matter — in the Lone Star State.

Here’s a photo snapped by linebacker Brian Orakpo of the actor rocking a Redskins club head cover from presumably some golf event or outing in April.

In any event, McConaughey is in town for an event put on by the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation scheduled for this month called “Movies with Morris,” of course involving running back Alfred Morris (via D.C Sports Bog):

Join the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation, Redskins Players and Academy Award Winner Matthew McConaughey in an evening to celebrate the Washington Redskins 2013 Walter Payton Man of the Year, Alfred Morris.

Enjoy a fun, family friendly evening of movies selected by Alfred Morris, Matthew McConaughey and his teammates! Get your tickets now, before they are all gone!

And in case you’re wondering … yes, the tickets are all gone.

But who would think such a forward-thinking, presumably liberal-minded actor would back a team that many feel sports such an outdated, bigoted and insensitive name.

But maybe that’s what McConaughey likes about the Washington Redskins: He gets older, the team (stubbornly) stays the same.

Or something.
