Derek Jeter receives personalized, pinstriped paddleboard from Angels (video/photo)

The “Derek Jeter Gift-Giving Bonanza Funtime Retirement Tour” made its latest stop in Anaheim as the New York Yankees finished up a three-day series with the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday.

To commemorate Jeter’s impending retirement, the Angels presented the veteran shortstop with a custom paddleboard featuring the legendary Yankees pinstripes, the team logo and Jeter’s number on the bottom.

Now all we need is Jeter gal pal Hannah Davis to put on a bikini and pose with the paddleboard. Because that would be neat.

After a video montage celebrating great moments from Jeter’s career played on the video screen to the soundtrack of “Empire State of Mind,” Jered Weaver, Albert Pujols, Howie Kendrick and Mike Trout gave Jeter his retirement gift.

Thank goodness Jeter wasn’t taking a leak when the ceremony was going on, as he was when he lost his home run bet to Brian Roberts the other night.

Speaking of which, Jeter finally got off the homerless snide on Wednesday, hitting his first round-tripper of the season in the second inning that gave the Yankees a six-run lead in a game they ultimately won 9-2..

Not to besmirch the Houston Astros’ efforts at clever retirement gift-giving, but the Angels’ paddleboard is far superior to the set of golf clubs, Stetson cowboy hat and pair custom No. 2 Yankee cowboy boots the Texas team gave to Jeter in early April. The Angels certainly raised the bar for future teams that plan to commemorate Jeter’s retirement with this gift.
