Breaking news: LeBron James is one of the most popular athletes in the United States, at least insofar as the Googling habits of our nation’s citizenry.

According to research conducted by “Best Tickets”, the Miami Heat superstar reigns supreme as the most searched-for athlete in an astounding 23 states. In fact, LeBron nearly has the entire southeast quadrant of the U.S. on Google Search lockdown.

Peyton Manning is the second-most Googled athlete by state with seven, followed up by Adrian Peterson and Tom Brady in a tie for third with three states.

Other than LeBron’s dominance, Google searches tend to break down according to regional affiliations relating to where an athlete plays. For instance, Johnny Manziel dominates Google searches in Texas, Kobe Bryant owns California and Floyd Mayweather fittingly dominates searches in Nevada.

As far as most popular athletes according to Google search data is concerned, LeBron still dominates, followed by Kobe Bryant and Floyd Mayweather.

The research also breaks down other search data, including most popular positions according to search data. No, we’re talking about sports positions here, of course. Get your minds out of the gutter, people.

Finally, should Best Tickets ever decide to research who is the most Googled sibling of a celebrity, I think we know who would come in second:

You guessed it. Frank Stallone.
