NOT THE BEES! Euro golfer Pablo Larrazabal attacked by hornets, jumps in lake (video)
In one of the most bizarre scenes ever to play out in a golf tournament, European Tour golfer Pablo Larrazabal was forced to take cover by jumping into a lake during play when a huge swarm of hornets descended upon him and began to attack and sting him.
Larrazabal reportedly was stunk approximately 20 times when what he estimates to be a swarm of 30-40 hornets attacked him during the second round of the Maybank Malaysian Open.
The 30-year-old Spaniard had just made a shot out of a bunker on the fifth hole of the Kuala Lumpur Country Club when the bees began their attack.
Larrazabal took to Twitter after the round to discuss his unbelievable and frightening experience.
The golfer was allowed to change clothes after receiving treatment and ended up making a birdie on the hole.
“Amazing what happened today. I have been attacked by 40 bees at the fifth. Never been so scared on a golf course,” he tweeted in Spanish.
He added later:
In my room resting after a long and tough day out there… Head still in pain but i will be 100% and ready tomorrow to go for a low one…
