Adam Jones on field intruders: ‘I wish the cops Tase the living s–t out of them’ (video)
Baltimore Orioles outfielder Adam Jones should have been all smiles late in the game as he and his teammates were putting the finishing touches on a 14-5 beatdown on the New York Yankees on Tuesday, but two morons interfered with his enjoyment of the easy win.
During the eighth inning, two fans in Yankees jerseys stormed the field. Their idiotic antics quickly were thwarted by cops and ballpark security as the two were tackled and cuffed near second base, but Jones was justifiably and understandably pissed over the incident.
As the two were escorted off the field, Jones could be seen saying something to them. After the game, Jones laid into the field trespassers, even suggesting that players should get a crack at taking a shot at them before they are thrown in the slammer.
“I let them know how I felt, obviously a lot of choice words because I think it’s idiotic for people to run on the field, and I think the punishment needs to be a lot harsher and they should let us have a shot to kick them with our metal spikes on because it’s stupid,” Jones said after the game, according to the New York Daily News. “You look like a jackass when you run on the field. We don’t go to any other events. We don’t go to other sporting events and do that to their jobs, but they come to ours and do that.
“I get it, you’re drunk and you want to be on SportsCenter. Your ass is going to jail with a fine, and you might not be allowed to come back to the ballpark. I remember a couple of years ago, one dude broke his ankle in Baltimore. I was laughing at him. I wish he shattered his finger because it’s stupid. It’s just plain old stupid.”
When asked what should happen to field intruders, Jones did not mince his words.
“I wish the cops Tase the living s–t out of them,” he said.
As someone who could be directly affected by fans invading the field should said trespassers have ulterior motives other than wanting to look like complete morons (with the added consequence of spending a night in jail) — perhaps even to attack a player, for instance — Jones has every right to feel that these folks should be treated with swift and extreme prejudice, although “Tase the living s–t out of them” may be a bit much.
Jones clearly has had enough of the antics of these criminals, which is exactly what they are: Lawbreakers. And they should be treated as such. Can’t fault him for that opinion.
