Kansas City Royals selling water from Kauffman Stadium fountain for $20 (photo)

In one of the more oddball MLB team items available for purchase, the Kansas City Royals are selling bottles of water tapped from the famous fountain at Kauffman Stadium. Cost? $20.

Well, the bottle sure is fancy, though.

But before any potential purchaser’s tickled buying bone goes numb at the thought of buying bottled water for twenty bucks, have no fear, according to the Royals team store’s website, “All bottles are authenticated by Major League Baseball.” It would be interesting to see how such an authentication process is performed. Rigorous testing of pH levels? Taste test? Who knows?

There is no doubt that the Kauffman Stadium fountain is an iconic baseball park landmark, admired by most but revered by Royals fans. Still, twenty bucks? Wow.

As the old saying goes, “There’s a sucker born every minute.” For the sake of the Royals, let’s hope at least some of those said suckers have a yearning for paying $20 for some bottled fountain water.
