Blatant Homerism

Plenty* of seats available for White Sox-Twins game at US Cellular Field (photos)

* Meaning all of them. Twitter user Matt Linder is one of the very few in attendance for Thursday’s matinee between the Minnesota Twins-Chicago White Sox game at US Cellular Field. And he’s doing a fantastic job both amusing himself and anyone following his tweets as he suffers through a chilly day in Chi-town.

The above photo apparently was taken about 40 minutes before the first pitch. As you can see below, fans weren’t simply showing up late for the game. They weren’t showing up at all.

To be fair, as Linder notes, it was about 30 degrees and rainy in Chicago during the game. And he also mentions that due to the crowd reaction to the Twins scoring some runs, “most of the 500 out of the 800 here are #Twins fans.”

That’s right. As a lifelong Minnesotan, goodness knows I am aware that we are a sturdy bunch unaffected by inclement weather. With anywhere between 8 and 18 inches of snow allegedly heading Minnesota’s way over the next day, crap, we have to be.
