Bryce Harper ejected from spring training game for arguing call (video)
It may only be spring training, but Bryce Harper already is in regular season mode when it comes to acting out on the field.
During the exhibition tilt between the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday, Harper got himself tossed after arguing a close play at first base.
Harper hit a grounder to second during the fourth inning. He tried to leg it out and beat the throw but was punched out on a bang-bang call. Harper appeared to say something in the direction of the first base umpire before continuing to jibber jab on his way back to the dugout. Whatever it was that Harper said or did — or what the ump perceived him to say or do — the slugger was ejected.
He was later seen exiting the ballpark.
Harper went back to plead his case but it was too late. A fiery fella, that Harper kid. Some love the guy for his passion, others hate him for what often can be perceived as a excessively cocky demeanor. Either way, the kid seems in it to win it. Or whatever.
