Dwight Howard gets to play astronaut at NASA’s space center in Houston (videos)
Coming off a win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday, the Houston Rockets don’t have another game scheduled until Thursday, so Dwight Howard took advantage of the free time to pay a visit to the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston where he was given a behind-the-scenes tour.
While there, Howard got to play astronaut for awhile, getting strapped into some kind of space flight training harness, tooling around in some kind of astronaut seat and even operating a NASA Land Rover around simulated terrains of the moon and Mars.
Looks like a good time. It’s like a scene from the 1986 classic, “Space Camp,” only without Lea Thompson, Kelly Preston and … Joaquin Phoenix? Seriously? Did not know he was in that flick. Weird.
