Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen donning Seahawks, Broncos jerseys? Make it so (photo)

Awesome. If there’s one thing that screams football, it’s two brilliant and esteemed English actors, Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen, donning Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos jerseys, respectively, to gear up for Super Bowl XLVIII while cracking a cheeky joke.

You see, Mr. Stewart is holding a soccer ball — a real football according to the rest of the world. How delightfully sublime!

Sure, an “X-Men” reference works perfectly here, given Stewart’s portrayal of Professor X and McKellen portraying Magneto in the films, but these two acclaimed stars of stage and screen have accomplished much more in the their long and prosperous careers.

As you can see, I went with a “Star Trek: The Next Generation” reference in the title of the post, of course referencing one of Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s trademark lines. That’s just how I roll, something I am sure Patrick Stewart is thrilled to know: I went with ST: TNG instead of the multitude of roles I could have instead mentioned.

Oh, and Mr. McKellen? He’ll always be Gandalf to me.
