Denver catering company’s sign gives the straight poop on its ‘Super Bowel Party Platters’ (photo)

Is there anything crappier for a business than discovering an egregious typographical error in an advertisement? Yep. Having said spelling error not only look bad, but through a twist of fate, make what is being advertised enormously unappealing.

With the hometown Denver Broncos set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLVIII next weekend, a local catering company wanted to cash in on the dramatically enhanced regional interest in the Big Game and committed some of its marketing resources to the creation of a banner sign in order to drum up some business.

That’s when things went wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong.

Before confirming the banner order, an embarrassing spelling error made its way on to the banner. Instead of promoting the caterer’s “Super Bowl Party Platter” the sign refers to the business’ “Super Bowel Party Platter.” Oops.

To be perfectly fair, blame should be spread around on this one. What sign company misses that oversight on behalf of its client?

Thanks a lot, signage business, on behalf of La Cuisine of Evergreen. Wrecked ’em? They hardly knew ’em!
