Jim Harbaugh’s wife is no fan of hubby’s khakis that were purchased for $8 at Walmart

The old saying goes, “Behind every great man there is a great woman.” And that certainly is the case with San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and his wife, Sarah.

Married since 2008, Jim and Sarah have three children (Harbaugh also has three children from a previous marriage) and given that NFL coaches spend an absurd amount of time at the office, it stands to reason that Sarah does the bulk of the work around the home and taking care of the children.

But just because she is a supportive wife does not mean that she has to agree with everything her husband does, including his choice in clothing.

A point of contention between the two undoubtedly is the khakis that Harbaugh always wears on the sidelines during games. And looking at the screen grab above, one hardly can blame her.

Sarah weighed in on the slacks after calling in to 99.7 FM’s “Fernando & Greg” program to address her husband’s lack of fashion sense.

Saying, “I will not take the blame for his outfits,” Sarah told the hosts that while Harbaugh has agreed to let someone with taste dress him next season, the pants he’s been wearing since taking over as head coach of the 49ers in 2011, in her opinion, are just awful.

The fact that he picked them up at Walmart for $8 may have something to do with the fashion-backward assessment.

Sarah insists that she has done her best to rid Harbaugh of the dreadful pants, even tossing them in the trash.

“I’ve thrown them away many of times,” she said. “I’ve asked him: ‘Please, pleats are gone. Wear the flat front.’ He has a flattering body.”

If they’re not pleated khakis from Walmart, they’re just pants. Or something.

Despite her best efforts, Harbaugh once replaced them during a trip to the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

“I threw them out and when he went to the combine, he found a Walmart,” she said. “They were $8. $8!”

Yeah, eight bucks ain’t going to get a man a nice pair of pants. One can only wonder what Coach Harbaugh will wear next season and who will be dressing him. Someone should put him in touch with Tim Gunn or someone of his ilk. Now that partnership surely would generate some fabulous sideline attire.
