Sweet sassy molassey, Chicago Blackhawks ‘Magical Movie Collection’ video is fantastic (video)

The Chicago Blackhawks always seem to go their own way, and have done so again with the release of a truly inspired and completely ridiculous video. As other NHL teams are busying themselves with cheesy and hilarious holiday-themed videos, the Blackhawks, instead of singing carols or performing rocking versions of holiday tunes, opted for a “Magical Movie Collection” for its Christmas video, in which players awkwardly re-create scenes from classic films by slipping into the guise of the respective movie’s well-known characters.

Patrick Kane as Anakin Skywalker? Check (no pun intended). Andrew Shaw and Antti Raanta re-creating “The Karate Kid”? Nick Leddy as Napolean Dynamite? You betcha. Marian Hossa busting out lines from Principal Ed Rooney from “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? You better believe it. Patrick Sharp as Batman? Sure, why not?

“Titanic,” “8 Mile,” “Silver Linings Playbook” and “Braveheart” are among the films that are also paid homage by receiving the oddly Blackhawks treatment. Happy holidays!
