Don’t sit under the Christmas tree with anyone else but … Bill Belichick? (video)
Sure, Bill Belichick may seem like a curmudgeonly sort on the outside — a Grinch-like grouch, even — but peel away the rough exterior and cut-off hooded sweatshirt and underneath he is an old softie, especially when it comes to Christmas music.
On Thursday, as the team continued its preparations before facing the Baltimore Ravens in a critical match-up on Sunday, the New England Patriots head coach took a moment during his press conference to address his love for Christmas songs. In fact, he claims to be a big fan of pretty much any Christmas song, carol or ditty.
“Actually, I enjoy all of them,” he said. “I really do. Pretty much whichever one comes on puts a smile on my face. It’s a great time of year.”
No, Coach Belichick. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Surprised he didn’t know that line.
(Note: Yes, I am aware that the real song title is “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (with Anyone Else but Me).” But work with me here. It’s Christmastime for Pete’s sake!
