Bears bromance? Brandon Marshall kisses Jay Cutler following win (video)
While Jay Cutler’s return as starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears on Sunday wasn’t a triumphant one to begin with, he did manage to right the ship in the second half and lead his team to a 38-31 comeback win over the Cleveland Browns.
Cutler wasn’t at his best in the first half, throwing two interceptions as he tried to shake off the rust after missing the previous four games with an ankle injury but returned to form as the game progressed, throwing three touchdowns in a critical win that gave the Bears sole possession of the NFC North division lead.
“The guys rallied around me,” Cutler said. “I’d be lying if I didn’t say there was (pressure) with everything on the outside and as well as Josh has played. But this was the plan all along and no one really flinched in our building.”
The decision to insert Cutler back into the lineup and sitting Josh McCown by head coach Marc Trestman was a source of some controversy and was met with some consternation by both the media and Bears fans after McCown filled in more than capably for Cuter. But in the end, sticking with the original plan to put Cutler back in when he was healthy ended up working for the first-year Bears head coach.
Cutler and Brandon Marshall seemed to get back on the same page with relative ease, as the wide receiver caught nine passes for 94 yards and a touchdown.
Marshall decided to show his quarterback some love as Cutler was being interviewed on the field following the game, planting a smooch on Cutler’s cheek.
Not only that, Marshall hugged Cutler on the bench earlier (via reddit/BroBible):
A Bears bromance, indeed.
