Chicks, Man

Paulina Gretzky has been on fire, both literally and figuratively (in Maxim) (pics)

What kind of week would it be in the blogosphere if there was no news about the doings, comings and goings of Paulina Gretzky? Not a bloody good week, I’ll tell you that.

Well, folks, we got ourselves a bit of a daily double today on the Paulina Gretzky news front, as it has been revealed that the daughter of the Great One and fiancée of PGA Tour star Dustin Johnson has snagged the cover of the December issue of Maxim. It looks like how much effort she puts into posting enticing images on her Instagram account is starting to pay off. Or continuing to pay off may be a better way of putting it.

The fact that Gretzky landed on the cover of Maxim would make for red-letter Paulina day in and of itself, but there also comes word that the gorgeous 24-year-old had a too-close-for-comfort incident this week when she nearly was engulfed in flames while hanging out at a Cali hotspot.

On fire, indeed.

TMZ reports that Gretzky and some pals were hanging out at the Tipsy Goat (great name) in Thousand Oaks, Calif., the other night when she got a bit too close to an outdoor fire pit at the bar when throwing in a cigarette and part of her sweater got too near the flames.

The next thing anyone knew, the sweater was engulfed in flames. But never fear, folks nearby had their wits about them, acted quickly and removed the flaming sweater before Gretzky was injured or burned, according to Paulina’s people. Whew.

Back to the Maxim angle. Gretzky’s meteoric rise to fame has been fueled by her love and affinity for social media, and the young lady certainly knows how to use it to generate a buzz. Speaking to Maxim about criticism she receives for her often sexy seflies and other pics she posts to Instagram, Gretzky downplays it.

“Some people gave me such a hard time for posting all these swimsuit pics on Twitter,” she admitted to Maxim (via People). “I’m sorry, I’m not posting pictures when I’m reading a book. I feel like social media is supposed to be for fun, to share what you’re doing when you’re enjoying life.”

Another photo from the shoot that reveals the video she posted to Instagram a while back where she was rocking a itsy-bitsy teenie-weenie black bikini that caused quite the fanfare seemingly was from the Maxim shoot:

Fair enough. Keep on keeping on, Miss Paulina Gretzky. Most folks have been enjoying watching you enjoying your life.
