Pittsburgh Pirates fan jumps off bridge to celebrate team’s wild card win (video)

The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 6-2 on Tuesday in the National League Wild Card game to earn the team’s first postseason victory since 1992. It has been joyous time in BuccoLand during the team’s ultimately successful run to the playoffs this season and it’s not surprising that fans have been thrilled while experiencing some semblance of success after such a lengthy dry spell.

The win on Tuesday could be defined as both the culmination of a successful regular season run and possibly a taste of things to come. One Pirates fan, perhaps not wanting to see the regular season and Wild Card success tainted should the team’s postseason run end when the Pirates square off against the St. Louis Cardinals in National League Divisional Series action that begins on Thursday, jumped off the Clemente Bridge into the Allegheny River, risking life and limb and taking the chance that he wouldn’t be able to see how the Pirates fared as the playoffs play out.

Gotta support the team, sure, but celebrating the rewarding of said support by drowning while doing so is always an inadvisable tack to take.

Pittsburgh radio station KISS 96.1 somehow tracked down the bridge-jumper on Twitter. His name is Dean Pasztor and he was more than happy to acknowledge via social media that he was in fact the guy who took the plunge:

Bravo, good sir. Lucky you ain’t dead or hurt. But bravo nonetheless.
