Wayne Rooney posts grotesque photos of head injury on Facebook (pics)

During practice on Saturday, Wayne Rooney collided with England teammate Phil Jones, resulting in a gash on his forehead. The aftermath of the collision prevented Rooney from competing alongside his Manchester United mates in a match against Liverpool on Sunday, but what has English football fans all in a lather is how the injury will keep Rooney out of two upcoming World Cup qualifier matches against Moldova and Ukraine.

Some across the pond have questioned Rooney’s commitment to the team, speculating that injury, one that required stitches, is merely a superficial injury that Rooney should play through.

The soccer star apparently had enough of the speculation from the skeptics, taking to his Facebook page to upload two photos that more than adequately document just how ghastly the gash really is.

Rooney posted the photos on Wednesday along with the message: “Some people seem to be questioning my commitment to the England squad and the fact I had to pull out of the 2 games. There’s nothing I would like more than to be helping the lads in the qualifiers. I’m sure people will see from these images the reason why I won’t be able to play.”

And a close-up:

Game. Set. Match. Rooney wins this time. That looks terrible. And here I thought LeBron James’ nasty feet were disturbing.
