UCLA Bruins, adidas unveil fantastic ‘L.A. Midnight’ alternate unis (photos)

Bad ass. Bad freaking ass. On Tuesday, the UCLA Bruins announced on its official athletics site that the team would be wearing alternate TECHFIT football uniforms made by adidas for its Nov. 15 home game against the Washington Huskies.

Normally, alternate uniforms are a borderline interesting gimmick that garners a little attention, but these unis are among the coolest and advanced uniforms in recent memory.

Details on the alternates, including how technologically advanced the uniforms are, via

UCLA’s new adidas TECHFIT L.A. Midnight uniform is black with blue and gold shoulder stripes and player numbers. The jersey font incorporates a stripe detail inspired by UCLA’s traditional shoulder stripes. The Bruins’ helmet is black with the UCLA logo in gold metallic, a consistent color throughout the uniforms. UCLA’s adizero 5-Star gloves and adidas TECHFIT base layer feature a landscape reminiscent of the Los Angeles skyline at night, and the Bruins will wear adidas Team Speed Vertical socks and Crazyquick Mid cleats.

The new uniform includes adidas TECHFIT ShockWeb technology, designed to keep players fast, cool and mobile onfield. adidas ShockWeb features engineered body mapping, which maximizes compression zones across the chest and sides, in a lightweight knit structure that provides a tight fit with enhanced range of motion. Integrated CLIMACOOL mesh zones create airflow to keep players cool in every temperature.

adidas posted some photos of the spectacular new uniforms to its “adidas Football US” Facebook page:

The jerseys will be available for purchase on the UCLA Store website at some point in October.

Once again. Bad ass.
