Sports anchor vandalizes Joe Flacco banner hanging in downtown Denver (video)
Denver Broncos fans understandably were more than miffed when banners featuring the image of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco started sprouting up around the Mile High City. The banners were part of the NFL’s efforts to promote the league’s annual Kickoff Game on Sept. 5 at Sports Authority Field, which features the Broncos and Ravens in a rematch of the AFC Divisional Playoff Game last January.
The fact that Flacco’s stellar and clutch performance proved to be the catalyst the sparked Baltimore’s thrilling 38-35 double-overtime win only helped raise the ire of Broncos fans who probably wouldn’t have been happy with any player from a different team being prominently featured in promotional banners in the first place.
At least one person in Denver refuses to stand idly by while these accursed banners fly about the streets of downtown Denver, practically mocking and ridiculing a Broncos fan base likely still reeling from the heartbreaking playoff loss. That man is CBS4 sports anchor Dave Lombardi, who was mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.
Lombardi posted five videos of himself defacing Joe Flacco banners to Tout on Tuesday, bearing the messages, , “We’re here,” “Defacing Flacco,” “We don’t need no stinkin Flacco!”, “Not in my city!” and finally, “Not in our house!”
Take that, NFL and its army of disrespectful banner hangers.
