Bobby Valentine praises, pokes fun at Dustin Pedroia over beers at a bar (video)

Bobby Valentine may no longer be the manager of the Red Sox, moving on to the role of athletic director at Sacred Heart University, but it looks like he may have left his heart back in Boston, so long as someone wants to listen to him talk about one of his former players.

As unfair as it may be to Bobby V., some guy had the foresight to record a conversation on is phone that some fellas were having with the former BoSox skipper at some bar somewhere.

As Valentine holds a tall beer, he discusses at length Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, alternating between praising the star ballplayer and taking little shots at him, such as making fun of his handshake.

WARNING: Video contains some salty language. Viewer discretion is advised.

Overall, Valentine doesn’t say anything too damning, humiliating or hurtful about his former player, but it is funny to hear him unfavorably compare Pedroia’s handshake to that of one of the bar’s waitress. Still, he refers to Pedroia as a “marvel,” so that’s nice

And while Bobby V. doesn’t seem too tipsy in the least, let’s just hope, for safety’s sake, he didn’t drive — or ride his bike — after his conversation with the guys.
