Minor league fan won’t let a faceful of concrete stop him from catching ball (vid)

For all we know, the match-up between the Lake County Captains — a Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and the Dayton Dragons — an A-ball team in the Cincinnati Reds organization — on Wednesday may have been a bona fide, certifiable minor league classic out of the Midwest League.

Unfortunately, few folks beyond those in attendance will ever know. But an amazing — and painful — catch by a fan seated in the grass behind the outfield fence will be talked about for a long, long time.

Watch as this kid eats a chain link fence and maybe a bit of concrete after diving to make a spectacular catch of a home run off Dragons slugger Jorge Martinez.

Goodness gracious. He really wanted that ball, didn’t he? And really, what is major reconstructive dental surgery when compared to catching a baseball at a minor league game? This kid gave 110%. Of his teeth. Yeah, he actually may have jarred a few wisdom teeth out that hadn’t erupted through his gums yet.

One last note: What gives with the strange interlude in the video featuring the surprised animal bit? That was strange, although richly compelling and fitting. I think.
