‘Around the Horn’ pays tribute to ‘Breaking Bad’ with great intro, montage (video)
Beginning Sunday, “Breaking Bad,” the fantastic AMC series, concludes its jaw-dropping, nerve-shredding run of television brilliance with an eight-episode arc to conclude the show’s fifth season.
As fans of the show anxiously await Sunday’s episode like a bunch of geeked-out meth heads, the accolades, tributes and homages have been pouring in for “Breaking Bad,” with seemingly a new video, fan artwork, etc. running roughshod over the interwebs.
ESPN’s “Around the Horn,” one of the few remaining watchable shows on the network, celebrated the show during its intro, mimicking the opening sequence of “Breaking Bad” and then playing out a montage that paid tribute to a memorable scene from earlier in the fifth season that featured the song “Crystal Blue Persuasion” by Tommy James and The Shondells.
And another layer is peeled back about how things go behind the scenes at “Around the Horn.”
Sigh. It sure is sad and depressing to see it all come to an end. I am of course referring to ESPN’s rapidly dwindling relevance. And “Breaking Bad,” too, of course.
All kidding aside, kudos to the “Around the Horn” staff behind putting together such a great tribute, though. Well done. Just as good, if not better, than ATH’s tribute to “Goodfellas” from a few years ago.
