Least surprising news ever: Michael Beasley busted for pot possession (pic)
In news that shouldn’t surprise anyone with any knowledge of his storied past, Phoenix Suns forward Michael Beasley was arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of marijuana possession after he was pulled over on a traffic violation by Scottsdale, Ariz., police.
Beasley, whose issues with marijuana have been well-documented throughout his NBA career during stints with the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves, was booked pending charges and released on his recognizance.
According to the Scottsdale Police Department’s “High Profile Arrests” tracker, the incident involving Beasley and a car that reeked of weed played out as follows:
On 08/06/13 at 1:15 am SPD made a stop for a traffic violation in the area of Scottsdale and McCormick Roads. As the officer approached the vehicle he could smell marijuana emanating from within the car. A search of the driver’s area recovered marijuana that was impounded. The driver, identified as Michael Beasley, was booked pending charges for possession of marijuana and released.
While treating this story with the deserved level of snarkiness, it is nevertheless unfortunate that Beasley has been unable to realize his potential in the NBA. The guy has all the talent in the world, but apparently can’t get out of his own way, whether it be issues with marijuana or the gremlins who continuously with him during free throw attempts.
