Yeesh: Phil Mickelson needed three putts to hole out from three feet (video)

The conditions appear to be growing more and more treacherous with each passing minute over in Scotland at Muirfield during the second round of the British Open. Nerves are being tested, psyches are being compromised and putts are being missed. Lots and lots of putts.

Phil Mickelson had an especially traumatizing experience on the par-3 16th hole during his second round. Mickelson required four putts to finish off the hole, but the last three were from within three feet. Suffice to say, that ain’t good.

Yep, Phil Mickelson four-putted his way to a double-bogey five and completed his second round with a 3-over 74. Add that to his 2-under 69 on Thursday and Phil will be playing this weekend. Hope he has it in him. Because my guess is it’s going to be a brutal, brutal two days. At least for the golfers. For us viewers? We’ll be allowed to enjoy it, cringing all along the way.
