By now most have heard or read about the breaking developments in the troubling Aaron Hernandez saga. The then-New England Patriots tight end was handcuffed, taken into police custody and escorted from his home on Wednesday morning in connection with his alleged involvement in the murder of Odin Lloyd.

Details are sketchy as to what charges will be filed against Hernandez, but the Patriots organization has decided to cut ties and release Hernandez, setting forth in a statement, “At this time, we believe this transaction is simply the right thing to do.”

While much will be written and discussed regarding the arrest and release in the coming days, a trend currently is developing on social media. Dubbed “#Hernandezing,” people are uploading photos of themselves with their arms pulled out of their sleeves, mimicking how Hernandez appeared as he was escorted from his home in handcuffs.

It’s kind of like “Tebowing,” but, you know, centers around the arrest of an NFL player due to his alleged involvement in a young man being tragically murdered. So yeah.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s currently transpiring on Twitter thus far related to the “#Hernandezing” theme, first brought to our attention courtesy of Kissing Suzy Kolber:

Ah, the evolution of a meme. Savor the senseless tragedy of it all.
