Fan dives into bushes for home run ball, still doesn’t retrieve it (video)
Atlanta Braves right fielder Jason Heyward hit a home run during the eighth inning of the team’s 7-6 loss to the San Diego Padres at Petco Park on Monday.
After the ball was deposited into the seats, a crazy carom off some stairs caused by the ball to bounce into some bushes. That’s when one fan apparently so eager to obtain the ball he risked life and limb by diving into some shrubbery in the hopes of retrieving it.
Good grief. The worst part of it all — other than how ridiculous he looked during his leap — obviously is that despite his at-all-costs efforts, he was unable to score the souvenir, as some other dude swoops in and scoops up the ball with the most minimal of exertion. Sucks to be him. Also, sucks to be those bushes. It probably will be a good week or two before the shrubs will spring back into shape.
