Maria Sharapova gets served on Twitter over not knowing men’s player (pic)
Last week, with the French Open in full swing, Maria Sharapova tweeted out what then appeared to be a seemingly innocuous comment about how she was unfamiliar with two French players, Benoit Paire and Jeremy Chardy.
No big deal, or so it seemed. That is until Alize Lim, a relatively unknown women’s player who played with Chardy in mixed doubles during the French Open — who apparently is dating him as well — caught wind of it.
That’s when the claws came out when Lim fired back a tweet in response.
@mariasharapova and yet looks like you should… twitter.com/AlizeLim/statu…

Bam! Of course, the image of the current ATP rankings attached to the tweet highlighted how Paire and Chardy are ranked ahead of Grigor Dimitrov, a rising star on the men’s side who just so happens to be the current boyfriend of Sharapova (photographed above).
Rawr, indeed. So, is the makings of a potentially enjoyable Twitter catfight, perhaps? That appears not to be the case, as Sharapova apparently has never replied to the well-crafted zinger. Chardy and Lim have since been eliminated from the French Open, but here are the two on the court together.
Hottest mixed doubles team? I think so!! @rolandgarros @alizelim twitter.com/Daria_gav/stat…

A handsome duo, to be sure. Much like Sharapova and Dimitrov. Perhaps a mixed-doubles match-up between the two couples would settle the mini-battle that brewed between Lin and Sharapova. It would at least be interesting.
