Tiger Woods rocks cargo shorts during practice round at U.S. Open course (pics)
A spectator following Tiger Woods during a practice round on Tuesday at Merion Golf Club snapped some photos of the golfer rocking some killer cargo shorts.
Located in Ardmore, Pa., Merion Golf Club is the site of the 2013 U.S. Open, which begins on June 13.
Woods was getting his first look at Merion this week, a course he apparently has never played until Monday.
Tiger, speaking Wednesday at Muirfield Village Golf Club, the site of the Memorial Tournament that begins Thurday, had the following initial assessment of the legendary course:
“From what everyone had said, I did not have an inkling that it was going to be as long as it was,” Woods said. “It was raining sideways, and it was just an ugly day. We played it probably as long as it will ever be played.
“In June, obviously the weather won’t be like that. It will be hotter. The ball will be flying. The clubs will be different, but the lines will be the same. It was nice to see and get an understanding of what I need to visualize and my prep next week and get ready for that. Have a nice understanding of where my sight lines are going to be and where I need to land the ball. Obviously it will be different clubs. Won’t be quite as long as it was playing yesterday.”
According to a Bob Harig report on ESPN.com, was considered short the last time the U.S. Open was played there way back in 1981, so Tiger’s surprise at how long the course played is somewhat surprising.
But speaking of shorts, let’s have some more looks at those rocking cargo shorts Tiger was sporting:
Yeah, nothing long about those bad boys. But I suppose it was better than Tiger strapping on some jorts, right?
It also merits noting that shorts typically are not allowed at Merion, but the course technically was closed and Tiger was there as a guest of the USGA. Still, I think the wardrobe choice has Lindsey Vonn’s fingerprints all over it. A guy starts dating a new gal and suddenly she’s changing everything about him, including what he wears, not to mention how he behaves at swanky soirees.
Okay, not really. I’m sure the cargo shorts were all Tiger’s idea. He likes to keep it casual sometimes.
