Brittney Griner: First player to dunk twice in one game in first WNBA game (video)

While Brittney Griner’s WNBA debut came in a loss with her Phoenix Mercury getting blown out by the Chicago Sky by a score of 102-80, she made it a memorable first act by becoming the first player in WNBA history to dunk twice in the same game.

Surprisingly — or perhaps not so much according to one’s perspective of women’s basketball — Griner apparently is only the third player in the league to dunk at all, so doing so twice is a remarkable achievement.

While Griner’s dunks did come well after the game’s outcome for all intents and purposes was decided, but she did finish with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks, a sensational initial effort.

Said Griner about her flashy debut following the game: “I wish it was in a win, but whenever I can dunk, the crowd got into it.”

Bravo, Brittney. The wins will come. And something tells me this young lady is going to do big things in the WNBA. Call it an educated guess.

What say you, Dancing WNBA Fan?

My sentiments exactly.
