It’s been a while since we last checked in on Miss Kate Upton. Obviously, 2012 was the Year of Upton and 2013 started off with a bang as well, amid all the fanfare of her snagging consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers, not to mention her dinner date with golf legend Arnold Palmer and that entire prom date invitation story, among other things. Add on rumors about her love life (Justin Verlander and the quashed rumors about her making out with Diddy), 2013 has all the appearances of another big year for Miss Upton.

Which brings us to the present day, when we have learned that Kate Upton has landed the cover of the June 2013 issue of Vogue. Of course, being Vogue — as I write like I have any idea what I’m writing about — Upton sheds the skimpy swimsuit and glams it up for the accompanying photo spread from a shoot with fashion photographer Mario Testino in Uruguay.

A snippet from the insightful cover story, “The Kate Upton Effect: America’s Favorite Bombshell,” by Lizzie Widdicombe, about the ridiculous notion and subsequent discussion regarding whether or not she is fat:

This year’s Sports Illustrated cover—a shot of her in Antarctica, parka open to reveal a stunning breadth of cleavage—set off a fresh round of “Is she fat?” conversations across the Internet. “It was hard at first,” she admits of hearing such rumblings. “You sit there and you’re like ‘Is something wrong with me?’ ” But she’s learned to ignore her critics—and come to regard her healthy body as a point of pride. “The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.”

It doesn’t hurt, by the way, that Upton has a sense of humor about this subject. She deadpans, “It’s kind of funny to think, Oh, wow, the news is talking about whether I’m fat or not.”

Funny, indeed. And stupid. To wit:
