Woman tragically dies after choking on hot dog at Wrigley Field
Maureen Oleskiewicz, a 28-year-old woman from the south suburbs of Chicago, has tragically died after choking on a hot dog during Sunday’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field, according to a Chicago Tribune report.
Cubs spokesman Julian Green stated that Oleskiewicz was sitting in the bleachers with her brother when she began to choke. Ballpark staff and medical personnel arrived on the scene to treat her at approximately 12:55 p.m. and she was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center by an ambulance on standby at the ballpark.
Oleskiewicz was pronounced dead at Illinois Masonic at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
The Cubs organization issued a statement stating it was “saddened to hear news of the untimely death of Maureen Oleskiewicz. We express our deepest sympathy to her family and friends. We will continue to keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
We share the Cubs organization’s thoughts as well. What a horrible, horrible tragedy.
