JaVale McGee is so crazy that even his dunks are clinically insane (video)
If anything has been established about Denver Nuggets big man JaVale McGee throughout his NBA career, it is this: On the court, he is a supremely gifted athlete and off the court, he’s something of an eccentric oddball. Actually, that’s two separate and distinct things, but let us not quibble. Instead, let us marvel at a play from Wednesday’s Nuggets-Bulls tilt, highlighted by the jaw-dropping, high-flying, above-the-rim audacity with which McGee savagely throws down a monster dunk over Chicago Bulls big man Joakim Noah, an eccentric fellow in his own right.
It’s patently absurd and as mentioned above, if dunks could in fact suffer from mental illness, this one would be clinically insane. I’m talking One Few Over the Cuckoos Nest-worthy level of craziness. Why? Because McGee’s dunk isn’t so much of a dunk but instead is some kind of schizophrenic throw-in/dunk hybrid. It doesn’t know what it is. It’s a throwdown with multiple personality disorder. Or something.
Yamma hamma. His elbow was completely above the rim and did you notice how far away he was from the rim? He’s like Rubber Man. Wait. There’s no Rubber Man. Why did I think there was a Rubber Man? There’s Elastic Man… Plastic Man…
Ha. Seinfeld reference. Now that’s crazy.
The Nuggets went on to beat the Bulls in overtime by a score of 119-118, but the game was not without controversy, as a basket by McGee dunk victim Noah ultimately was disallowed with time running out in overtime.
