Flyers fan’s shirt behind bench: ‘Sidney Crosby is a whiny little [expletive]’ (pic)
It is hardly surprising that the rivalry that exists between the Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins, given the geographical proximity and hailing from the same state (Pennsylvania, for you half-wits out there), is an often heated one, chock-full of animosity and intensity with a healthy dose of vitriolic back-and-forth.
The bitter antagonism between the respective fanbases of the two proud NHL franchises was on full display on Thursday night when the Penguins visited Philly’s Wells Fargo Center for a showdown with the hometown Flyers.
A fan seated behind the Flyers bench let his feelings towards Philly’s presumed “Public Enemy No. 1 on Skates,” Sidney Crosby, via a crass but clever t-shirt, which as you can see below, read, “Sidney Crosby is a whiny little bitch.” A sentiment I am sure is shared by nearly every Flyers fan.
How rude! Nah, not really. But to give credit where credit is due, at least the Flyers fans haven’t ever cheered a Sidney Crosby injury, something Islanders fans did earlier this season. At least not that I know of. And there is no guarantee that they wouldn’t do it in the future, either.
I wonder if Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette even turned around and gave the guy a thumbs-up. Although the Flyers and their coach were probably not in the highest spirits, as the squad surrendered 4 straight goals in a 5-4 loss.
And to make matters worse, Sidney Crosby notched 3 assists in the win. I bet that really stuck in Profane T-Shirt Wearing Guy’s craw. Maybe his shirt should read “Sidney Crosby is a whiny little bitch whose unselfish play ruined the game I attended and had seats behind the Flyers bench.” But that would make for some real tiny lettering, I’d reckon.
