Unfortunately named Baltimore reporter gets tackled by Terrell Suggs (video)
If there’s anything more unfortunate than sharing the name — although spelled differently — of disgraced former Penn State coach and now-convicted and currently incarcerated Jerry Sandusky, it just might be getting blindsided by Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs while innocently standing on the practice field preparing to file a report.
Actually, in the grand scheme of things, being named Gerry Sandusky, as is the cruel fate visited upon the Baltimore sportscaster, is probably much, much worse than being the recipient of a playful tackle by the intimidating linebacker, but it was a provocative-sounding lede so I’m sticking with it.
Suggs, who returned to practice for the first time since tearing his Achilles tendon in April on Wednesday, isn’t expected to play for the first time on Sunday against the Houston Texans, according to a source. But that does not mean Suggs isn’t his same old self, illustrated by his willingness to have a bit of fun on the practice field, albeit at an unwitting reporter’s expense.
Sandusky (it doesn’t get any easier after the clarification, something the unfortunate soul stresses in his Twitter bio), was set to do his report from the sidelines on Wednesday, when out of nowhere, Suggs strikes, lightly hitting him in the back.
Ha. I don’t know what’s better, the look on Sandusky’s face as he’s victimized by Suggs’ shenanigans, or how he hilariously scampers after the Ravens linebacker, saying, “If you weren’t hurt, I’d take you down, I’ll track you down.” I’d like to see him make good on that threat.
Thankfully for Sandusky, he appears no worse for wear following his on-field interaction with Suggs, as evidenced by his tweet:
@bk_havinitmyway I’m happy to report I am able to walk today. I wasn’t sure how that would play out after yesterday.
