Young fan makes adorable drawing for Reds starting pitcher Mat Latos (photos)
At the time of the publishing of this post on Thursday afternoon, the Cincinnati Reds are engaged in a winner-take-all Game 5 showdown with the San Francisco Giants at the Great American Ballpark. At this exact moment, the Giants are leading the hometown Reds by a score of 2-0 in the 5th inning with starting pitcher Mat Latos still on the mound.
Latos received some artistic encouragement early Thursday morning courtesy of a young boy named Dylan, whose mother passed along his drawing of Latos to the pitcher’s wife, Dallas, by way of her Twitter account. Dallas responded to Dylan’s mom to inform her and her son that she showed her husband the picture. Adorable.
Along with a picture of Mat, Dylan also wrote, “Good Luck Mat Latos Love Dylan,” and if that doesn’t make you go “Awww,” there’s something wrong with you.
As you can see above, Dylan worked really hard and is extremely proud of his piece of art. Later, Dylan’s mom forwarded a better picture of Dylan’s ode to Mat to Latos’ wife Dallas, so that “Mat could see the tattoos he drew.” It follows.
How cute is that? Come on, Mat Latos! Shut down that Giants lineup and allow your team to get back in the game! The power of Dylan’s adorable artwork compels you!
UPDATE: Sadly, Latos was shelled as the 5th inning progressed, surrendering six runs (five earned) before being lifted for reliever Sam LeCure. Poor Dylan. When he gets home from school, he’s going to be devastated.
